Mezco Toyz Fair 2022 Reveals – Day 3

by Sean McLaughlin

While New York Toy Fair 2022 may have been cancelled due to pandemic concerns, toy makers have proven to be very resilient in revealing their upcoming lines for both the press and for the fans.  For the second year in a row, the rock stars over at Mezco Toyz are holding a virtual Mezco Toyz Fair through their official social media channels.  From Friday February 18th to Sunday February 20th, the toy and figure company are running very cool giveaways, fun activities like quizzes, and of course unveiling the latest and greatest Mezco designs and licenses.

For horror fans, Mezco always delivers, with license agreements with some of the greatest franchises around like Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street and Texas Chainsaw Massacre among MANY others.  The big reveals at Mezco Toyz Fair 2022 will be no different, and HNN will be covering all of the action.  Check back daily for updates on what collectors and horror fans can expect in 2022!

Day 3 (February 20th)

The final day of Mezco Toyz Fair 2022 contained two very significant horror reveals, and it appears they saved the best for last.

Brandon Lee will be further memorialized by his final role, that of 1994’s The Crow.  This 3 ¾” beauty is perhaps the most detailed and magnificent in the 5-Points line as the features are absolutely incredible.  Not only that…..the long black trench coat appears to be legit soft goods….for a 5-Points?  Really?  We are witnessing the evolution of the line, as The Crow goes above and beyond any previous entry.  No word yet on when this will be released, but it can’t come soon enough.  And it doesn’t appear to be pending licensor approval, so we may not need to wait long!

Mezco appears to be off and running with the Creepshow license, to the delight of collectors everywhere.  Day 1 saw a reveal of The Creep plush, and today comes the introduction of a killer Living Dead Dolls entry.  Based on the sub-story “Father’s Day”, the latest LDD piece showcases cranky zombie patriarch Nathan Grantham as he presents the head of his daughter Sylvia on a silver platter.  Boy, you could practically hear him shrieking “It’s Father’s Day….and I got my cake!” in these test shots.  Let’s hope the Creepshow toys keep coming, with maybe a Fluffy Static-6 up next?

That wraps up Mezco Toyz Fair 2022, a virtual con that offered many awesome treats for the horror collectible market.  While it was bummer that New York Toy Fair was cancelled for the second year in a row, Mezco came through big time.  Let’s hope in 2023 we’ll be back at the Javitz Center!
