Now this shines a whole new light on motherhood.
Birth/Rebirth–described as a “psychological horror film about motherhood and creation”–has started production for a 2023 debut on Shudder, according to a report on Deadline. No exact release date has yet been announced.
The film–inspired by Mary Shelley’s classic Frankenstein–centers around a single mother (Judy Reyes) and a childless morgue technician (Marin Ireland), “who are bound together by their relationship with a re-animated little girl (A.J. Lister).
The feature film debut for writer/director Laura Moss, Birth/Rebirth also stars Breeda Wool (Mr. Mercedes) and Monique Gabriela Curnen (Away). Mali Elfman and David Grove Churchill Viste produced the movie.
Moss said the film “has been gestating for a long time, and I’m so proud of the cast and crew we have assembled.” Shudder general manager Craig Engler called Birth/Rebirth a “fantastic blend of psychological and body horror, sure to electrify.”
