It looks like action icon Chris Pratt has his sights set on tomorrow.
With the horror/sf hit The Tomorrow War setting new streaming standards on Amazon Prime Video over the Fourth of July weekend, Skydance Media and Amazon Studios are already talking about a follow-up to the futuristic romp, according to Deadline.
Paramount Pictures reportedly would also be part of this deal, since the studio was originally planning to distribute the movie theatrically.
It was reported that both the cast and the behind-the-camera stars are involved in discussions for a sequel. That includes Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski, Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson, Edwin Hodge and J.K. Simmons. Director Chris McKay and screenwriter Zach Dean would also be back for another go-round if all works out as planned.
The impetus for these talks apparently is the tremendous fan reaction to the movie. The Tomorrow War aired July 2 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in more than 240 countries and debuted at No. 1 across steaming platforms over the holiday weekend. The film ranks as the biggest live-action streaming movie of the summer so far.
The Tomorrow War follow ex-military type Dan Forester (Pratt), who becomes embroiled in a war set in his future that will decide the fate of the entire planet. The fun starts when a group of time travelers from the year 2051 appear in our time and drop the bombshell that a hostile alien species (some truly ugly monsters) is attacking Earth. And they need help to turn the tide of battle.
