Which Legacy Stars May Return For The Next ‘Scream’?

Who wants the next dance with Ghostface?

Off the success of last month’s Scream, plans have been set in motion for a sixth entry in the classic horror franchise, with production expected to start on the next film this summer. But what will the cast look like?

Two of the legacy stars have thrown their two cents’ worth into the discussion, according to a report on comicbook.com, but–at least at this point in time–nothing is set in stone.

The first name most fans would think of in this regard is Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott character. Well, the actor acknowledged she has been contacted by the filmmakers, but she seems undecided at this point.

“They have approached me,” Campbell said during a recent interview. “There’s no script yet. There’s a draft coming in soon is what I was told.”

Campbell added she had an appointment to call the producer “because he wanted to talk to me about what’s going on. We’ll see. I’ll read the script and see how I feel.”

While Campbell appeared to be open to returning (with conditions), Courteney Cox seemed enthusiastic about the possibility. She called the entire process a “fun experience to have such a longstanding series of movies, and this one (the last Scream) feels completely invigorated in a new way. The directors are incredible, and I think Wes (Craven) would be looking down and saying, ‘I’m so happy it’s Matt and Tyler’.”

The fifth Scream–directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick–topped the $100-million mark globally by uniting legacy characters with newcomers to face off–once again–against the threat of Ghostface.
