‘What We Do In The Shadows’ Drops Hints For Season 3

The Emmy-nominated FX hit horror/comedy What We Do in the Shadows may be in a holding pattern at the moment heading into production on its third season–due to COVID-19, of course–but the cast and crew recently dropped some juicy tidbits for fans.

The stars of the series–a successful spinoff of the 2014 movie of the same name–joined the showrunners at the recent New York Comic Con Metaverse 2020 event for a revealing gab-fest, as reported by syfy.com. The show–as all fans know–follows a small group of vampires living on Staten Island.

The actors–Matt Berry (Lazlo), Kayvan Novak (Nandor), Natasia Demetriou (Nadja), Harvey Guillen (Guillermo) and Mark Proksch (Colin)–and showrunners Paul Simms and Stefani Robinson discussed several things fans can look forward to in Season 3.

Robinson touched on how they choose the various mythical creatures that interact with the vampires. “It’s sort of exciting because we have the ability to pick and choose what we find fun about vampires,” she said. “We have so many to pick from. It is just a matter of seeing if those characters slot in a way that doesn’t make the show feel too ridiculous.”

Other events on tap for Season 3 include a special trip the vampires will take. “I won’t say where they’re going,” Simms said, “but the vampires (will) go on a road trip to a place where they don’t usually go.”

Simms added there also will be “a big, important birthday for Colin,” and that the “energy vampire” may get a chance to try out his singing voice next season. There also will be a storyline that deals with Nandor looking for romance. In addition, the neighbor Shawn (Anthony Atamanuik) will be prominently featured in at least one episode.

The show–created by Jemaine Clement–recently garnered 10 Emmy Award nominations (including Outstanding Comedy Series). The 10-episode second season was highlighted by several guest stars, including Mark Hamill, Benedict Wong, Haley Joel Osment and Craig Robinson.
