Wes Craven is teaming up with Syfy for a ‘The People Under the Stairs’ TV series, as well as an adaptation of ‘We Are All Completely Fine’. He has signed a first-look overall deal with Universal Cable Productions and the Syfy network.
‘We Are All Completely Fine’ is based on the book by Daryl Gregory and centers around psychologist Dr. Jan Sayer, who forms a support group for horror movie senario survivors. However, she inadvertently unleashes the evil of their pasts. Craven is directing the pilot and penning the script. Craven, Captive Entertainment’s Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner, along with Industry Entertainment’s Sara Bottfeld are executive producing.
‘People Under the Stairs’ is based on Craven’s film from 1991 of the same name. It centers around the search for a young woman who goes missing at the Robeson Family Manor, which reveals the secret horrors hidden inside the estate. The series is described as ‘Amityville Horror’ meets a modern day ‘Downton Abbey’. Craven, Alive Productions Shep Gordon, Michael Reisz, Tracey Murray, along with Industry Entertainment’s Bottfeld are executive producing. Reisz (Shadowhunters, Unforgettable) is also writing the script.
