Warner Bros. this week announced that Welcome to Derry–the HBO Max (now just Max) prequel series to the two It films based on the Stephen King horror classic–will debut sometime in 2024. Stay tuned for an exact date.
The horror series–being developed by Andy and Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs–stars Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk and James Remar. No character details have been revealed.
Welcome to Derry is expected to set primarily in the 1960s, and will explore the backstory of Pennywise the Clown and the curse over Derry–the Maine town made famous by King’s 1986 novel and the 2017 and 2019 films.
The original It feature film–directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay by Chase Palmer, Cary Fukunaga and Gary Dauberman–follows the members of The Losers’ Club, a group of seven outcast children who are terrorized by Pennywise.
