As an actress who has made a successful career in the genre of horror, Vera Farmiga will take on her next film Bad Bloom as both the star and producer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Known to modern audiences as Lorraine Warren in The Conjuring film series, Farmiga was nominated for an Academy Award in 2009 for Up in the Air and made her directorial debut with the micro-budget drama Higher Ground in 2010. Outside of horror, Farmiga will star as Eleanor Bishop in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Hawkeye series set to be released on Disney+.

Bad Bloom is the story of a family that lives in isolation on a remote island. The purpose of them being there is to keep a mysterious creature contained while being under lock and key. Their situation comes apart when one of the family kids finds out not is all it seems with the creature that is being contained.

Set to begin filming in the second half of 2021, Bad Bloom will be director Bryce McGuire’s feature debut after screenwriting several short horror films, such as Unfollowed and Soon You Will Be Gone and Possibly Eaten.
