‘Venom’ Star Tom Hardy Reveals That Third Entry Has Started Up

by Thomas Tuna

Who will Venom play with this time around?

The next installment in the Sony Pictures Venom franchise–Venom 3 for now–has entered pre-production, according to series star Tom Hardy. Check out the video on this page that shows Hardy in a deleted (or test) scene for the first Venom film.

This third Venom feature is directed by Kelly Marcel (who wrote and produced the first two entries), replacing Andy Serkis. Marcel is also co-producing the movie and writing the screenplay from a story she and Hardy hatched.

All that’s known about this third film is that Hardy will reprise his role as Eddie Brock/Venom, and this entry is expected to be the final chapter in the film franchise–at least the last Venom film with Hardy as lead. Other casting choices and a release window have yet to be announced.

The second film in the series–Venom: Let There Be Carnage–sees Brock in conflict with serial killer Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson) after he becomes the host of the symbiote Carnage. That sequel earned more than $500 million worldwide on a $110-million budget.
