Will Venom stir up some Halloween horror?

The third entry in the Marvel/Sony horror/super-hero Venom franchise will start shooting very soon, and will reportedly aim for an October 2024 release window, according to Variety.

The new feature–directed by Kelly Marcel (who wrote and produced the first two films) from a screenplay she wrote with lead Tom Hardy–also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Juno Temple.

And Temple–during a recent interview with Variety–said she couldn’t share any details about the film’s storyline or her role, but did say shooting is scheduled to start “very, very soon–which I’m thrilled about.” Sony Pictures reportedly has set a tentative release date for October 2024.

Little else is known about Venom 3, but reports indicate that Hardy will reprise his dual role of Eddie Brock/Venom, and that this likely will be the final chapter in the franchise–or at least the last Venom film with Hardy as the lead.

The second installment in the franchise–Venom: Let There Be Carnage–follows Brock’s battle with serial killer Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson) after he becomes the host of the symbiote Carnage. The box office smash earned more than $500 million worldwide on a $110-million budget.
