Untitled Netflix Horror Film Adds To Impressive Cast

by Thomas Tuna

An upcoming Netflix horror flick may not yet have a title, but it keeps adding names.

The new film dealing with exorcism and demonic possession–written and directed by Oscar nominee Lee Daniels–this week signed Tasha Smith to its growing cast, according to a report on Deadline.

Smith–perhaps best known for her role on the TV series Empire (created by Daniels)–joins Andra Day, Glenn Close, Octavia Spencer, Rob Morgan, Caleb McLaughlin and Aunjanue Ellis in the thriller inspired by actual events.

In the film, Oscar nominee Day plays Ebony, the mother of an Indiana family whose children “purportedly became demonically possessed.” Smith portrays Asia, Ebony’s best friend.

The movie–produced by Daniels, Tucker Tooley and Pam Williams–is based on the case of Latoya Ammons and her three children who supposedly experienced strange incidents in their Gary, Ind. home in 2014.

Daniels–who produced 2001’s Monster’s Ball (for which Halle Berry won a Best Actress Oscar)–received his Best Director Oscar nomination for 2009’s Precious.
