Dracula’s lackey will have a Spring coming-out party.

Just yesterday, Horror News Network reported that two more actors had joined the ensemble for the horror/comedy Renfield, and today, Universal announced it will release the offbeat film April 14, 2023, according to a report on Deadline.

An updated synopsis is also available now. According to the new logline, in this “modern monster tale, Renfield (Nicholas Hoult)–the loyal, but tortured, aide of Dracula (Nicolas Cage)–has been forced to procure his master’s prey and do his every bidding.”

But now, “after centuries of servitude, Renfield is ready to see if there’s a life outside the shadow of the Prince of Darkness. If only he can figure out how to end his co-dependency.” Ah, there’s the rub.

The film–directed by Chris McKay from a screenplay by Ryan Ridley (based on an original idea by Robert Kirkman of The Walking Dead fame)–also features Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, Adrian Martinez, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Bess Rous and James Moses Black.
