‘Universal Monsters’ Get Shrunk Down for Funko’s New Mystery Mini Series

by Nick Banks

If your wallet still has some money left in it after last week’s announcement of Funko’s Ad Icons Mystery Minis series (featuring all of the General Mills Monster cereal characters including the rare Yummy Mummy and Fruit Brute), it won’t for long, as Funko announced today on twitter that the Universal Monsters would be getting an entire series of minis dedicated to them.

The Universal Monsters Mystery Minis series will feature minis based on:  Frankenstein, Frankenstein (holding a flower), The Mummy, The Invisible Man (wrapped up), The Invisible Man (clear), The Wolfman, Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula, Dracula (holding a candle), The Creature from The Black Lagoon, The Mole People, and The Phantom of the Opera.   As usual, the contents of the mystery boxes will vary in rarity from 1/6 to 1/72.  For those purists out there, Walgreens will also carry exclusive black and white versions of the characters.

This isn’t the first time that the Universal Monsters have been immortalized as mystery minis, as many of the characters have already been included in the Horror Classics line (namely Frankenstein, The Wolfman, The Mummy, and The Creature).

No release dates have been announced as of yet, but it is a good bet that these figures will debut in the fall to coincide with the Halloween season.
