Universal Announces Date for next ‘Exorcist’ Film

Universal has announced a fitting release date for its upcoming Exorcist film from Mike Flanagan, according to a report on Deadline. The film will scare audiences on March 13, 2026…That’s Friday the 13th.

While no plot details have been revealed at this time, it’s said to be a “radical new take” on the celebrated horror franchise. According to the producers, this new take on The Exorcist will not be a sequel to any previous Exorcist film.

Flanagan has been absolutely killing it in the horror space with films and series such as Oculus, Hush, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Doctor Sleep, The Haunting of Hill HouseMidnight Mass and Gerald’s Game, and The Fall of the House of Usher.

The last film released in the franchise, The Exorcist: Believer was released in 2023 and took home $65.5 million at the US box office against a budget of $30 million.
