Pizza night is taking a turn for the bizarre.
Five Nights at Freddy’s–the feature adaptation of the popular horror video game–is set to begin production in February in New Orleans, and two actors are now on board for the freaky fun, according to a report on Deadline.
Matthew Lillard (Scream) and Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) have joined the Blumhouse Productions project in undisclosed roles. The film is helmed by Emma Tammi (The Wind), who will work off a screenplay she wrote with game creator Scott Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback.
The video game follows a night security guard as he starts work at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, but who soon learns this is no ordinary job. It turns out that the animatronic animals that are cute during the day become something else entirely when the sun goes down.
The award-winning Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is working with Blumhouse to bring these frightening creatures to life.
Cawthon said Tammi has “a great understanding of the franchise. I feel she can craft something that will please the fan base and keep people on the edge of their seats.”
