Apparently, money doesn’t buy happiness.

Rich Flu–a timely horror thriller being shopped at the Cannes Film Festival this week–recently added two cast members, according to a report in deadline.

Daniel Bruhl (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) and Macaulay Culkin (American Horror Story) have joined Oscar nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) in the movie that is expected to start production this fall.

In the film–directed and co-produced by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia (The Platform) from a screenplay he wrote with Pedro Rivero and David Desola–a “strange disease is killing off some of the richest and most influential people on the planet,” according to the synopsis.

Now, the disease threatens to strike anyone “with any sort of fortune–and no one knows where it might end. With the world panicking and everyone’s way of life headed for collapse, people are trying to flood the market with assets the world no longer wants.”

The thriller, according to the logline, “explores how far a person who go to save his skin when the wealth that made the world go ’round suddenly becomes its most dangerous commodity.”

The film’s producers include Pablo Larrain, Juan de Dios Larrain, Adrian Guerra, Nuria Valls, Carlos Juarez and Albert Soler.
