This is truly a dog-eat-dog world.
Devil Inside–a new horror pic from Odin’s Eye Entertainment–is fleshing out its cast with familiar faces as it continues its pre-production work.
Caitlin Stasey (Smile) and Lou Taylor Pucci (Evil Dead) have joined Ryan Kwanten (True Blood) in the cast of the film said to be in the vein of It Comes at Night. At this time, the movie is slated for release during the third quarter of 2023.
Devil Inside–directed by Jonathan auf der Heide (Van Diemen’s Land) from a screenplay he wrote with Tom Holloway and David Ngo–explores the horrors that could result from a cross-species contagion.
In the film, Eva, a young virologist, helps the local park ranger research the Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumor Disease, “a contagious cancer that has wiped out 90 percent of the population,” according to the synopsis.
But, when her husband is bitten by a stray dog, Eva suspects the virus “has mutated to cross species and is causing violent outbursts in the hosts.” Soon, the infection spreads through the locals, and Eva “must choose between saving the man she loves and the rest of humanity.”
The film is “inspired by a real-life disease,” auf der Heidi said. “I wanted to keep it firmly grounded in reality. What makes it so scary is that this will feel like the world’s first actual rage virus outbreak.”
