OK, who spiked the honey pot?
Jagged Edge Productions has taken advantage of A.A. Milne’s beloved Winnie-the-Pooh classic lapsing into public domain at the start of the year to forge a Bizarro World-type twist to the children’s story–Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.
The first photos of the film–described as “a horror retelling of the famous legend of Winnie the Pooh”–dropped a couple of months ago, and the first official poster was revealed this week. Check out the publicity image–courtesy of comingsoon.net–on this page.
The film–which wrapped shooting in May, but does not yet have a release date–was written and directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield and stars Craig David Dowsett as Pooh Bear, Chris Cordell as Piglet and Nikolai Leo as Christopher Robin.
The rest of the ensemble cast includes Natasha Tosini, Amber Doig-Thorne, Maria Taylor, Jase Rivers, Simon Ellis, May Kelly, Natasha Rose Mills and Richard D. Myers.
Few storyline details have been revealed, but Waterfield did say that Pooh and Piglet are the “main villains” in the film, who “go on a rampage” after being abandoned by a college-bound Christopher Robin.
It seems that the once-cuddly characters “become feral,” the director explained, “and have gone back to their animal roots. They’re like a vicious bear and pig who go around looking for prey.” What’s wrong with that picture?
