This horror pic may have lost a title, but it gained a release date.
The Screen Gems film formerly known as True Haunting (it’s now listed as the “untitled True Haunting movie”) will hit theaters Jan. 6, 2023, according to a report on Deadline.
The film–based on actual events recounted in the 2011 novel by Edwin F. Becker–is directed by Gary Fieder (Homefront) from an adaptation by Richard D’Ovidio (The Call). Cindy Cowan is on board as producer.
Erin Moriarty (The Boys) and Jamie Campbell Bower (Vecna in Stranger Things) star in the feature that follows Ed and Marsha Becker after they buy their first house, only to discover it’s infested with ghosts–specifically the spirits of the “sinister family who lived and died there,” according to the logline.
To solve the supernatural dilemma, the Beckers tried an exorcism–“the first ever filmed, and televised by NBC in 1971. Millions around the country tuned in. Although the broadcast was a success, the exorcism was not. It made things worse. Much worse.”
