Apparently, Anna Camp can’t get the genre out of her “blood”.

Camp–perhaps best known to horror fans as the villainous Sarah Newlin in the HBO vampire series True Blood–has signed on to star in the supernatural thriller From Black, according to a report on Deadline.

The film–which has started shooting in Mississippi–also features Jennifer Lafleur (Big Little Lies), John Ales (Euphoria), Travis Hammer (Godless) and Richie Montgomery (Ozark).

From Black–helmed by Thomas Marchese (Fallen), who wrote the screenplay with Jessup Flower–follows a young mother–“crushed by guilt and shame after the disappearance of her son five years before–who is offered a bizarre opportunity to learn the truth and set things right,” according to the logline.

The mother is asked “whether she is willing to pay the terrifying price for a chance to hold her boy again.”

Marchese also produced the film, alongside Kelly Frazier and Vincent Cardinale. Camp is one of the executive producers, along with Cesar Mercado, Humberto Carillo, James Norrie, Bob Portal and Inderpal Singh.

Marchese said the idea behind the movie was “to take a dark police procedural and cross it into a flat-out terrifying supernatural horror story. I feel we have nailed the tone and hit that mark.”
