TriStar Pictures Snaps Up Eli Roth’s ‘Thanksgiving’

by Thomas Tuna

Someone pass the sweet potatoes.

TriStar Pictures has inked a deal to distribute Thanksgiving–a horror flick from Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever) that’s based on the fictitious trailer he made for 2007’s Grindhouse cult double-feature–according to a report on Deadline.

Thanksgiving–shooting now in Toronto–will be released worldwide in theaters by TriStar and Spyglass Media Group. The film does not yet have a debut date.

The feature–directed by Roth from a screenplay by Jeff Rendell–stars Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Nell Verlaque, Jalen Thomas Brooks and Milo Manhem. Roth and Roger Birnbaum are producing the movie.

The original mock trailer–appearing in Grindhouse from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez–deals with a pseudo movie in which a slasher “makes his own carving board out of the inhabitants of a Massachusetts town.” Roth even gets in on the bloody action–in one scene that shows him losing his head.
