Michael Dougherty–director of the original film–recently spoke at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles and announced a sequel is in “active development” with Legendary Entertainment. Dougherty added that he’s on board to write and helm the sequel.
No details on storyline or casting choices have yet been announced, but it’s safe to say the burlap sack-wearing Sam will make an appearance somewhere. And it’s likely the anthology-style format of the first film will return as well.
Speaking of the original Trick ‘r Treat, the pic was written and directed by Dougherty and produced by Bryan Singer. Starring Dylan Baker, Rochelle Aytes, Anna Paquin and Brian Cox, the film tells four Halloween horror stories with the common thread of Sam–a trick-or-treater wearing that familiar burlap sack and orange footie PJs–running through them.
