“If you keep doing that, this baby will kill you.”
Those ominous words are heard at the end of a teaser trailer for the new (and very dark) horror/comedy The Baby slated to hit HBO next month. Check out the brief video–courtesy of collider.com–on this page.
The eight-episode series–which debuts April 24–follows a woman who suddenly finds herself with a seemingly adorable baby (who fell from the sky?) and who is not your typical infant.
The Baby–created and written by Sian Robins-Grace and Lucy Gaymer (who make their showrunner debuts)–follows 38-year-old Natasha who unexpectedly has to care for a baby and “her life of doing what she wants, when she wants, dramatically implodes,” according to the synopsis.
The new addition–“controlling, manipulative and with violent powers”–twists Natasha’s life “into a horror show. Where does it come from? What does it want? And what lengths will Natasha have to go to in order to get her life back?”
Natasha doesn’t want a baby. The baby wants her.
The series stars Michelle DeSwarte (The Duchess), Amira Ghazzalla (Carnival Row), Amber Grappy (Wrecked), Patrice Naiambana (Spectre), Sinead Cusack (V for Vendetta), Shvorne Marks (Endeavour), Isy Suttie (Peep Show), Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education), Seyan Sarvan (It’s a Sin), Karl Davies (Happy Valley) and Divian Ladwa (Ant–Man and the Wasp).
