Don’t let the shade of lipstick fool you–Brand New Cherry Flavor is one scary ride.
The eight-episode Netflix series–based on Todd Grimson’s 1996 cult horror novel–will premiere Aug. 13, as reported by Deadline. Check out the trailer on this page for a preview of the strangeness to come.
The limited series–written by showrunners Nick Antosca and Lenore Zion (who wrote the Syfy horror anthology series Channel Zero)–stars Rosa Salazar, Hannah Levien, Leland Orser, Patrick Fischler, Eric Lange, Catherine Keener, Manny Jacinto and Jeff Ward. Arkasha Stevenson–who directed the third season of Channel Zero–will helm the first episode.
The show, per the official synopsis, will follow Lisa Nova (Salazar) on her way to Hollywood in the early ’90s “dead set on directing her first movie. But when she trusts the wrong person and gets stabbed in the back, everything goes sideways and a dream project turns into a nightmare.”
Not just any nightmare. This one has “zombies, hit men, supernatural kittens and a mysterious tattoo artist who likes to put curses on people. Lisa is going to have to figure out some secrets from her past in order to get out alive.”
