Mars attacks…once again.

War of the Worlds: The Attack–the latest big screen adaptation of the H.G. Wells 1898 horror-s/f classic–will land in theaters next month, and a trailer has arrived to preview the latest frightening invasion. Check out the video on this page.

The Vertical Entertainment feature–set for a theatrical release April 21–is helmed by Junaid Syed in his directorial debut. Syed also co-wrote the screenplay with Tom Jolliffe and co-produced the film along with Hayley Medwell and Jatinder Kumar Bhardwaj.

The film–starring Sam Gittins, Vincent Regan, Alhaji Fofana, Lara Lemon, Stefan Boehm, Rosie Steel and Leo Staar–follows three young astronomers tracking a meteorite that crashes into the Earth, and “who discover they are at the epicenter of a Martian invasion,” according to the synopsis. Winding up in London, the group “must find a way to save mankind.”

Syed said he wanted to “create a modernized version of War of The Worlds while honoring the original story. It has nostalgic elements for adults and, at the same time, fresh storylines to make it relatable to younger audiences.”
