“When we played the game, we broke a rule.”
Elevator Game–a horror film based on an online phenomenon–starts streaming on Shudder in a month, and a trailer dropped this week to tease the feature. Check out the eerie video on this page.
The movie–debuting on Shudder Sept. 15–comes from director Rebekah McKendry and screenwriter Travis Seppala. “I first read about the Elevator Game several years ago,” McKendry said, “and I was intrigued by the rules and the curse of this internet legend. I thought it was a chilling entrance into a modern-day ghost story.”
In Elevator Game, teenager Ryan (Gino Anania) finds out that the night his sister disappeared, she had played the Elevator Game–“a ritual held in an elevator in which players try to travel to another dimension using a set of rules found online.” Knowing this, Ryan sets out to find her.
But, as Ryan and his friends play the game while riding in an elevator in a specific sequence, it summons a supernatural creature called The 5th Floor Woman.
Joining Anania in the cast are Alec Carlos, Megan Best, Nazarty Demkowicz, Verity Marks, Madison MacIsaac and Samantha Halas.
