Do you have fear or anxiety about artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential impact on society, jobs, and personal privacy? If so, Blumhouse’s (via Sony) next offering may give you nightmares.

Just hours ago, Sony Pictures Entertainment revealed the trailer, which can be seen below, for their upcoming AI horror flick Afraid.

Directed by Chris Weitz, the Afraid stars John Cho, Katherine Waterston, Havana Rose Liu, Isaac Bae, Lukita Maxwell, David Dastmalchian and Keith Carradine.

The official synopsis of the film reads “Curtis (Cho) and his family are selected to test a revolutionary new home device: a digital family assistant called AIA. Taking smart home to the next level, once the unit and all its sensors and cameras are installed in their home, AIA seems able to do it all. She learns the family’s behaviors and begins to anticipate their needs. And she can make sure nothing – and no one – gets in her family’s way.”

The film is slated to arrive in theaters on August 30th. Stay tuned to Horror News Network for more on Afraid.
