Tour ‘The Munsters’ Home As Envisioned By Rob Zombie

Talk about a fixer-upper.

The news is coming fast and furious from Rob Zombie’s Budapest set of The Munsters. Just last week, Horror News Network reported that Cassandra Peterson would be trading in her vampy Elvira togs for a real estate agent’s suit in the PG-rated film reboot, and now, a string of photos showing the interior of the new 1313 Mockingbird Lane–courtesy of movieweb.com–can be seen on this page.

Writer/director Zombie described the latest reveals as “some random set constructions. These sets are going to be absolutely insane.” Jeff Daniel Phillips–who plays Herman in the homage to the ’60s TV series–added that the production designer and art department “went so beyond expectations. So detailed, lush and gothic. Can’t wait until audiences see their work.”

The Munsters–expected to hit theaters and Peacock sometime next year–stars Phillips, Peterson, Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily, Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa, Sylvester McCoy as Igor, Richard Brake as Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfgang, Catherine Shell as Zoya Krupp and Jorge Garcia as Floop.

When asked about the surprising PG tag hung on his film, Zombie said those fans who expected the movie to be “dirty, violent and nasty–well, you are wrong. It’s all good down on Mockingbird Lane.”

The TV series that inspired this large-scale effort–which ran on CBS for 70 episodes from 1964-1965–starred Fred Gwynne as Herman, Yvonne De Carlo as Lily and Al Lewis as Grandpa, along with Butch Patrick as son Eddie and Beverley Owen (later replaced by Pat Priest) as niece Marilyn.

By the way, no word yet if either the boy werewolf or the “ugly duckling” niece will make appearances in this Zombie reimagining.
