This past Saturday, a giant horde of blood-thirsty horror fans descended upon the Naugatuck Event Center, in the normally quiet town of Naugatuck, Connecticut, to take part in Horror News Network’s sixth annual CT HorrorFest; a Comic-Con type convention geared toward the horror community.
The brainchild of Horror News Network founders Rob and Christine Caprilozzi, CT HorrorFest began as a much smaller convention in Waterbury, CT in 2014 before spending the next four years in Danbury, CT. The opportunity to move the convention to the much larger Naugatuck Event Center for the 2019 show was a “no-brainer” for the duo.
Fans of the horror genre showed up in droves to take part in the fun. On hand for them were dozens of vendors selling horror-themed articles, podcasts interviewing convention attendees, costume contests for the hundreds that showed up dressed as their favorite horror characters and, of course, celebrities from horror films. In attendance were members from the cast of the Saw franchise including Tobin Bell, Shawnee Smith and Sean Patrick Flanery. Also there to greet fans was the cast of Hellraiser (Doug Bradley, Barbie Wilde, Nicholas Vince & Simon Bamford), Danielle Harris and Don Shanks from the Halloween films, David Naughton from An American Werewolf in London, Gaylen Ross from Dawn of the Dead, Lou David from The Burning, Vinny Marseglia from Ring of Honor wrestling and Frank Romano, artist for Ben Cooper costumes who will also be returning for the documentary on Halloween costumes, Halloween in a Box, that will be premiering at the Naugatuck Event Center on October 4th (click here for more info).
Along with the costume contests, fans also had the opportunity to sit in, and participate, in Q&A sessions with the celebrities. Below are some pictures from the event to tide you over until next year’s CT HorrorFest which is already in the planning stage – stay tuned!
