A Witcher is only as good as the monsters he faces, right?
Given that, the upcoming second season of the popular Netflix horror/fantasy series The Witcher looks to be off to a rousing start. The new season kicks off Dec. 17, and a teaser clip, courtesy of comicbook.com, dropped this week to herald the arrival of a monster even Geralt will have problems with. Check out the short video below.

This new beastie–called a Myriapod–comes at its victims on eight legs, with sharp horns on its head and vicious-looking teeth. And it’s big…and fast. Good thing Geralt seems to have a decent defense with a protective shield and glowing sword. Better him than us.
Season 2 follows Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), as he escorts Princess Cirilla (Freya Allan) to his childhood home, Kaer Morhen. And, while the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons “strive for supremacy outside its walls, Geralt must protect the girl from something far more dangerous–the mysterious power she possesses inside.”
The Witcher also stars Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Jodhi May as Calanthe, Bjorn Hlynur Haraldsson as Eist, Adam Levy as Mousesack, MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla, Therica Wilson-Read as Sabrina, Emma Appleton as Renfri, Eamon Farren as Cahir, Joey Batey as Jaskier, Lars Mikkelsen as Stregobor, Royce Pierreson as Istredd, Maciej Musial as Sir Lazlo, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte as Dara and Anna Shaffer as Triss.
The series–led by creator and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich–is based on the book of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski. Season 1 follows the monster hunter Geralt, Cirilla and the sorceress Yennefer at different points in time, “exploring formative events that shaped their characters, before merging into a single timeline detailing the invaders from Nilfgaard–culminating at the battle for Sodden Hill.”
