Another Christmas tradition starts this year.

The Witcher: Blood Origin–the prequel series to the popular Netflix horror-fantasy The Witcher–will debut Christmas Day, Dec. 25, and will welcome a new cast member for the holiday premiere. Check out the image of newcomer Minnie Driver–courtesy of comicbook.com–on this page.

Driver–nominated for an Oscar for her role in Good Will Hunting–will play Seanchai in the prequel series, a character described as a “shapeshifting collector of old lore” who can “travel between time and worlds”.

Driver joins Sophia Brown, Michelle Yeoh, Laurence O’Fuarain, Mirren Mack, Lenny Henry, Jacob Collins-Levy, Lizzie Annis, Huw Novelli, Francesca Mills, Amy Murray, Nathaniel Curtis, Zach Wyatt and Dylan Moran in the cast.

The series–led by showrunner Declan de Barra and executive producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich–is set in an elven world 1,200 years before the world of The Witcher.

The story follows “seven outcasts who unite against an unstoppable power that took everything from them,” according to the updated synopsis. “This blood quest gives rise to a prototype Witcher in a conflict that brings about the conjunction of the spheres–when the worlds of monsters, men and elves merged to become one.”
