The CW is bringing the chills this Halloween.
The Winchesters–the spinoff prequel to the long-running hit series Supernatural–will debut on The CW Oct. 11, according to a report on Deadline.
Set before the “supernatural” adventures of Sam and Dean, The Winchesters tells the story of their parents, John and Mary–told from the perspective of narrator Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles). The series is written by executive producer Robbie Thompson, with Glenn Winter directing the pilot episode.
In the new series, John Winchester (Drake Rodger) meets Mary Campbell (Meg Donnelly) “and puts it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world,” according to the synopsis.
When John returns home from Vietnam, “a mysterious encounter sparks a new mission to trace his father’s past. He crosses paths with 19-year-old demon hunter Mary, who is also searching for answers after the disappearance of her father.”
The pair “join forces with young hunter-in-training Latika (Nida Khurshid) and hunter Carlos (Jonathan Fleites) to uncover the hidden truths about both families. Their investigation leads them to a rare bookstore, whose owner Ada (Demetria McKinney) takes an interest in the occult and could provide the missing pieces to their puzzle.”
