The drilling–and the terror–continues.
The Rig--a Prime Video horror series set on an oil rig off the Scottish coast–has been renewed for Season 2, and will start shooting in Scotland later this year, according to a report on Deadline.
The series–created by David Macpherson–will start its second season by following the surviving Kinloch Bravo crew as they’re choppered off the rig and taken to a new location, But more dangers await, and they “must contend with swirling conspiracies, conflicts and new threats from the depths of the ocean,” according to the synopsis.
In Season 2, Macpherson said he’s looking forward to “expanding the world through the eyes of the cast, delivering more shocks and thrills and delving deeper into the show’s original mythology.”
The show’s first season–starring Martin Compston, Iain Glen and Emily Hampshire–saw the oil rig crew encounter “a mysterious and all-enveloping fog” and experience “massive tremors hitting the rig.”
Making matter worse, “a major accident forces them to ask questions about who they can really trust–and leads to a confrontation with forces beyond their imagination.”
