Horror goes back a long way.

The Origin–a Stone Age horror pic that recently debuted at Fantastic Fest–now has a new name and a release date, according to a report on Deadline.

The Sony Pictures entry–landing in theaters Feb. 9, 2024–now carries the title Out of Darkness.

The film–helmed by first-time director Andrew Cummings from a screenplay by Ruth Greenberg–stars Safia Oakley-Green, Chuku Modu, Kit Young, Iola Evans, Luna Mwezi, Arno Luening and new comers Rosebud Melarkey and Tyreil Mhlanga.

Set more than 45,000 years in the dim past, the pic follows a group of early humans “who band together in search of a new land.” But, when “a malevolent, mystical being is hunting them down, the clan is forced to confront a horrifying danger they never imagined.”
