The best of a bad lot.
The Nun II–the well-received sequel to the 2018 horror hit–had another strong weekend at the domestic box office, despite what reportedly is the worst three-day period of the year, according to a report on Deadline.
This weekend, the film led a lackluster field–that earned just $52 million overall–with an $8.4-million total from 3,500 theaters in its third week. That lifts The Nun II to nearly $70 million domestically and well over $100 million globally.
The Nun II–directed by Michael Chavez from a screenplay by Akela Cooper–stars Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene and Bonnie Aarons as the demon Valak.
The sequel is set in 1956 France–four years after the original film–when Sister Irene once again comes to face-to-face with Valak at a local boarding school.
