Ghostface is looking to carve up the Big Apple.
Next year’s installment in the ever-growing Scream franchise (let’s call it Scream 6 for now) will move from the friendly confines of Woodsboro to the concrete canyons of New York City, according to a report on comicbook.com.
While not confirmed by the powers-that-be at this time, it wouldn’t be a giant stretch to imagine that change of venue–especially given the only brief logline that’s been revealed. All that is known for sure about the story at this juncture is that “the four survivors of the Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.” Why not in Manhattan?
Scream 6–directed again by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick–will bring back Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown–along with legacy star Courteney Cox. The film is slated for a theatrical release March 31, 2023.
But the franchise’s leading “last girl”–Sidney Prescott–will not make the trip to the big city. Neve Campbell recently broke the bad news to fans, saying “the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise. It’s been a very difficult decision to move on.”
