A few weeks back it was reported that the Epix channel had struck up a deal with Blumhouse to produce a set of eight horror/genre films to be released on the network through 2021 and 2022. The first of those films will be A House on the Bayou from writer/director Alex McAulay (Don’t Tell a Soul).

Now, Deadline has announced Lia McHugh as the first casting for the upcoming horror film. Young though she may be, Ms. McHugh is no stranger to the horror genre having already appeared in Totem (2017), Along Came the Devil (2018), and The Lodge (2019); also, the young actress just wrapped on the role of Sprite in Marvel’s Eternals!

According to the release form Deadline, A House on the Bayou “follows a troubled couple and their teenage daughter who go on vacation to an isolated house in the Louisiana bayou to reconnect as a family. But when unexpected visitors arrive, their façade of family unity starts to unravel, as terrifying secrets come to light.” Lia will be playing the role of the teenaged daughter, Anna.

Bayou is slated for a December 2021 release and we will keep you posted on more news about it, and the other seven Epix/Blumhouse films, as it breaks.
