It won’t be long now before horror fans will be able to see The Last Thing Mary Saw.
Last summer, Horror News Network reported that the religious horror film hit the Fantasia International Film Festival, and this week it was announced it will start streaming on Shudder Jan. 20. Check out a clip from the new film, courtesy of JoBlo.com, on this page.
The movie–from writer/director Edoardo Vitaletti–has an impressive cast of genre veterans, including Isabelle Fuhrman (Escape Room: Tournament of Champions), Stefanie Scott (Insidious: Chapter 3), Rory Culkin (Scream 4) and Judith Roberts (Dead Silence).
Starting out in 1843, the film shows a young woman named Mary (Scott) being interrogated about events surrounding her grandmother’s death. In flashbacks, Mary is seen being raised in a “repressively religious household and finding happiness in the arms of Eleanor (Fuhrman), the maid,” according to the synopsis.
But Mary’s family views the girl’s relationship as “an abomination to be dealt with as severely as possible.” And the situation is made worse “by the arrival of an enigmatic stranger (Culkin) and the revelation of forces other than the Lord at work”
