‘The Last Of Us’ Season 2 Will Start Filming “Within Months”

The next adventures may start sooner than you think.

A second season of the hit horror series The Last of Us has been confirmed by HBO, but details have been hard to come by–until recently when showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann at least dropped a hint regarding the shooting start.

Season 2 of the series–according to a report on Deadline (see the Twitter post on this page)–is “months, not years, away from starting” filming in British Columbia. Also, stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will both return for the next season, along with Gabriel Luna’s Tommy and Rutina Wesley’s Maria.

The show–adapted from the popular Naughty Dog video game–will also run more than two seasons, if Mazin can be believed. “There’s still quite a bit of story to tell,’ Mazin recently said. “Our plan is to do it for more than just one more season. We should be around for awhile.”

The Last of Us is set in a post-apocalyptic world where the Cordyceps fungus has transformed humans into zombie-like monsters. Trapped in this landscape, Joel (Pascal) is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie (Ramsey) out of a quarantine zone–with deadly creatures lurking everywhere.
