Talk about rubbing people the wrong way…

The Horror of Dolores Roach–an eight-episode horror series headed to Amazon Prime Video–this week added to its cast, with four more actors filling recurring roles, according to a report on Deadline.

The show–adapted by Blumhouse Television from the Gimlet podcast by Aaron Mark–inked Marc Maron (Joker), Jean Yoon (Kim’s Convenience), Judy Reyes (Claws) and Jeffery Self (Search Party) to join star Justina Machado, Alejandro Hernandez, Kita Updike and K. Todd Freeman.

Maron will portray Gideon Pearlman, owner of the building where Dolores and Luis live; Yoon will play Joy, owner of a nearby laundromat; Reyes will play Marcie, who runs the local weed business; and Self will portray Caleb, one of Dolores’ regular massage customers.

In the show, “Magic Hands” Dolores Roach (Machado) returns to her Washington Heights neighborhood after spending 16 years in prison. She reunites with an old stoner buddy, Luis, who gives her a place to stay and lets her give massages for cash in the basement.

But this stability is quickly threatened and Dolores is “driven to shocking extremes to survive,” according to the synopsis. “Dolores and Luis become dangerously symbiotic, and Luis must unleash his own peculiar predilections.”

Mark–who wrote the script for the pilot episode–will act as showrunner alongside Dara Resnik. Roxann Dawson directed the pilot for the series, which is described as a “Sweeney Todd-inspired tale or eat or be eaten.”
