Providing a much-needed bright spot in the summer of 2020 will be The Hollow Ones, the new 365-page horror novel from Academy Award winner Guillermo del Toro and best-selling author Chuck Hogan. Published by Grand Central publishing, the company describes the novel as a “horrific crime that defies explanation, a rookie FBI agent in uncharted territory, and an extraordinary hero for the ages: an investigation spirals out of control in this heart-pounding thriller.”

The Hollow Ones centers around an FBI rookie Odessa Hardwicke. Through a series of unfortunate and tragic events she finds herself put on low-level assignment, which ends up being more than she initially thought. The official synopsis outlines the plot details as follows: “Hardwicke accepts a low-level assignment to clear out the belongings of a retired agent in the New York office. What she finds there will put her on the trail of a mysterious figure named Hugo Blackwood, a man of enormous means who claims to have been alive for centuries, and who is either an unhinged lunatic, or humanity’s best and only defense against unspeakable evil.”

Genre fans almost likely remember del Toro and Hogan’s memorable collaboration, The Strain trilogy, and subsequent television series. The Hollow Ones is due out August 4, 2020.
