Will this be the final chapter?

The official title for the next installment in The Conjuring franchise was revealed this week, and it is certainly open to interpretation by fans. Check out the Twitter post from Discussing Film and the new title–The Conjuring: Last Rites.

No details on the storyline have yet been announced, but could “last rites” mean the end of the franchise? Or the end of a leading character? Or could it have a deeper meaning? Stay tuned.

Last Rites–which does not yet have a release window–will be written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who scripted The Conjuring 2 and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. No word on a director at this point, but James Wan and Peter Safran will return as producers.

Also returning for this fourth film will be Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, reprising their roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren.
