‘The Devil’s Mouth’ Swims Into The Cannes Film Market

Didn’t they know that an underwater cavern is never really empty?

The Devil’s Mouth–yet another twist on the never-to-be-duplicated Jaws phenomenon–will try its luck at the Cannes Film Market, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The underwater thriller–from director Jeff Wadlow (the Blumhouse films Truth or Dare and Fantasy Island) and screenwriters Aja Gabel and Myung Joh Wesner–is produced by Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee. Sierra/Affinity is handling global sales.

In the film, a group of divers insists on exploring the La Boca Del Diablo (The Devil’s Mouth, of course), an intricate maze of deep underwater caverns. But, as they enter the tunnels, “looming in the depths is a silent, bloodthirsty apex predator,” according to the synopsis.

The group’s only hope for survival is to set aside their petty differences and work together. But–even then–do they stand a chance? Like ringing the dinner bell.
