This horror stays all in the family.
The Damning of a Country Merchant–described as a “twisted horror”–has its two lead actors on board as filming is gearing up in Belgium, according to a report on Deadline.
Peter Sarsgaard (The Batman) and Mackenzie Davis (Station Eleven) will work with writer/director Matthew Rosenbaum in his feature directorial debut. Christian Hall, Eric Cook, Andy Starke, Reuben Walker and David Levine will produce.
The film–set in 1910 Indiana–follows the patriarch of a rural mercantile family (Sarsgaard) “whose way of life is suddenly disrupted by a charismatic industrialist who has a secret affair with his wife (Davis),” according to the synopsis.
And, when tensions mistakenly lead to the death of a customer, the merchant’s “wounded authority and masculinity leave him vulnerable to bizarre and horrific forces that cause unimaginable chaos and terror.”
