The Conjuring universe is not taking the “crooked” path.
It’s been several years since Horror News Network reported that plans were afoot for a spinoff of The Conjuring that spotlighted the entity known as the Crooked Man. Well, those plans have been tossed on the scrap heap. according to the man behind the successful franchise, James Wan.
In an Instagram post seen on this page, Wan displayed new looks of Javier Botet’s Crooked Man character from The Conjuring 2, while confirming the spinoff has been put on hold–at least for the time being. Could it be resurrected sometime in the future? Stay tuned.

The Crooked Man was introduced in The Conjuring 2 as one of the creatures used by the demon Valak to torment Ed and Lorraine Warren and the Hodgson family. Soon after, the proposed spinoff film reportedly was bring scripted by Mike Van Waes from a story by Wan–a screenplay that seems to have never reached fruition.
