The Blackening–a new horror-comedy from Lionsgate–is preparing for a theatrical release this summer, and a trailer and poster dropped this week. Check out the promos–courtesy of Deadline–on this page.
The feature–directed by Tim Story (Barbershop) from a screenplay by Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip) and Dewayne Perkins (Brooklyn Nine-Nine)–hits the big screen June 16.
In The Blackening, a group of Black friends reunite during a weekend getaway “only to find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a twisted killer,” according to the synopsis. Forced to play by his rules, the friends “soon realize this isn’t a game.”
The cast includes Antoinette Robertson, Sinqua Walls, Grace Byers, Melvin Gregg, Jermaine Fowler, Yvonne Orji and Jay Pharaoh. The film is produced by Story, Oliver and Perkins–along with Marcei Brown, Jason Clark, E. Brian Dobbins and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett.
