by Thomas Tuna

There are worlds within worlds.

The Backrooms–a horror found-footage YouTube video sensation–will be adapted for the big screen by A24, Atomic Monster, Chernin Entertainment and 21 Laps, according to a report on Deadline. Check out the video on this page.

The adaptation of the horror short–produced by 17-year-old filmmaker and VFX artist Kane Parsons–will be written by Roberto Patino and directed by Parsons.

Details of the film adaptation have not been revealed, but the original short follows a young filmmaker’s fall into another dimension, where he wanders through an empty office space–which may or may not be home to otherworldly beings.

The laundry list of producers includes Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen and Dan Levine of 21 Laps and James Wan and Michael Clear of Atomic Monster. Judson Scott will serve as executive producer.
