Terry Matalas to Write Remake of ‘Enemy Mine’

“Earthman, your Mickey Mouse is one big stupid dope!”

Terry Matalas, who was promoted to showrunner for the third season of Star Trek: Picard, has been tapped to write a remake of the 1985 cult film Enemy Mine, according to a report on The Hollywood Reporter.

Directed by Wolfgang Petersen, Enemy Mine was released by 20th Century Fox on December 20, 1985 and starred Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett Jr.

The film followed A soldier from Earth (Quaid) who crash-lands on an alien world after sustaining battle damage. Eventually he encounters another survivor, but from the enemy species he was fighting; they band together to survive on this hostile world.

The film flopped at the box office earning over $12.3 million on a budget that was estimated to be over $29 million.

Matalas was the creator and showrunner of the 12 Monkeys TV series and executive producer and showrunner of season four of the rebooted MacGyver series.
