The clown won’t stay down.

Terrifier 2–the sequel to the 2016 bloody slasher–has not even hit theaters yet, but writer/director Damien Leone is already working on the next installment in the growing franchise, according to a report in Slash Film.

The sequel–slated for a theatrical release Oct. 6–sees David Howard Thornton reprise his Art the Clown role, joined by Lauren LaVera, Elliott Fullam, Kailey Hyman, Amelie McLain, Charlie McElveen, Casey Hartnett, Felissa Rose, Tamara Glynn, Samantha Scaffidi, Griffin Santopietro and Chris Jericho.

In the film, Art returns to Miles County–after being resurrected by a sinister entity–in order to hunt down and destroy a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night, according to the synopsis. As the body count rises, “the siblings fight to stay alive, while uncovering the true nature of Art’s evil intent.”

But more evil is apparently on the horizon. Leone said in an interview that he has “a structure for Terrifier 3 already. I would like to tell a solid story with a nice arc for my heroes and my villains, so it’s complete. So, I can almost guarantee a Part 3.”

And, after that? “We’ll see if there’s anything left,” Leone said, “and if the fans still are accepting of this character and this franchise.”
