Teaser Arrives For ‘The Cello’ Before December Release

Truly music to die for.

The Cello–led by two veterans of the Saw film franchise–will hit theaters in a couple of weeks now, and the first teaser has dropped. Check out the video on this page.

The film–debuting Dec. 8–is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (three Saw entries) from a screenplay by Turki Alalshikh, and stars Tobin Bell (best known for his iconic John Kramer role in the Saw franchise.

The rest of the cast includes Tony and Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons, Elham Ali and Samer Ismail. The film is produced by Lee Nelson and Raul Talwar, with Niko Ruokosuo serving as executive producer.

In The Cello, accomplished Saudi cellist Nasser has aspirations of greatness, but feels he’s being held back by the old instrument he’s forced to play. But, when he’s offered the chance “to take possession of a beautiful red cello by a mysterious shop owner, he finds new inspiration for his playing and composing.”

But, as it turns out, this cello has a “nefarious past and, as Nasser prepares for an important audition, that past shows itself in the form of an ancient conductor and the suffering and death close to him. Nasser must now decide if achieving his dreams is worth the horror that comes with playing this cello.”
